Getting Ready To Recruit

You know when you are on the plane and the security message says "please observe our safety information and procedures even if you are a frequent flyer", and you just keep reading the magazine because you’ve heard it all before. Well lets hope your really do remember how to find your lifejacket and how to get into the brace position incase it's a bumpy ride.

Recruiting can be like flying sometimes. And whilst we all know what the planned destination is, the journey can be smooth or filled with turbulence. Such 'bumps' can be minimized if you follow these steps :

  • Make sure you have the necessary approval to recruit the position.
  • Agree the budget for the salary and recruitment fees
  • Communicate the job brief comprehensively to the recruiter
  • Agree a timeline for the recruitment process and communicate this internally
  • Put together an interview panel and where possible lock in interview times.
  • Produce a job description (we can help with this)

It all sounds pretty reasonable really, but you would be surprised how many times a recruitment can fall over because the client has not ticked most, if not all, of these boxes.

During the recruitment process keeping momentum going is crucial. You wouldn’t feel very happy if the planes engines stopped midway through a flight, similarly candidates like to feel that the process is moving forward. We know that sometimes things crop up that change priorities, but as long as we are kept informed we can keep the process going for you.
